Being Sick SUCKS

  Most of the lifestye and fashion blogs I've read seem to think that you should make the best of being sick by putting on a frilly nightgown and waiting it out in the most glamorous of ways.  I'm starting to wonder if these people have ever really been sick.

  This last week I've been battling with the flu.  My husband caught it somehow and while taking care of him, I came down with it too.  I think the last thing I've been feeling this week is glamorous, more like a swamp monster.  I suppose if you had something like a cold as opposed to the flu you could get away with that, but in this day and age who has that kind of time?  Even I have responsibilities that prevent me from laying in bed all day like keeping up a house and making sure my husband has his head on right everyday.  You take some pills that alliveate your symptoms and move on with life.  Having the flu though is whole other ball of yarn.

  Common symptoms of the flu include:
    * fever (usually high)
    * severe aches and pains in the joints and muscles and around the eyes
    * generalized weakness
    * ill appearance with warm, flushed skin and red, watery eyes *what about this is glamorous!?!*
    * headache
    * dry cough
    * sore throat and watery discharge from your nose

  However, I did make a list of some Pros and Cons of being sick.

So in the end, being sick SUCKS!  So take care of yourselves people!

#1 Get a flu shot!  In the US this year, flu shots have been readily available so there's no excuse not get one.
#2 Eat healthy and keep up your immune system.  Fresh fruits and juices in addition to a healthy diet, plenty of water, and daily exercise do so much for keeping you healthy and preventing diseases like flu.
#3 Get plenty of sleep.  8 hours every night!
#4 Keep It Clean  Wash your hands often and get out of the habit of touching your face.  When you sneeze or cough, make sure to cover with a kleenex or the inside of your elbow (instead of your hand that could continue the spread of those germs).  This is still the number one way to prevent a cold or the flu!
#5 Start At Home Make sure to keep a clean home that isn't going to breed germs and viruses, especially your kitchen and bathroom.

I hope everyone else has started off 2011 healthy and are raring to go for the rest of the new year!

  2. @Violet LeBeaux Thank you so much! I think when you work at home it's even worse because you never really leave work!
